Hi, I'm Amanda Tallman! The founder and executive director of First Page: A New Chapter For Veterans, First-Responders, & Kids.
After serving in the US Army and overcoming both physical and mental health challenges from cancer to my Ostomy bag, I created first page to support veterans, first-responders, and kids by bringing them together in a safe, mentoring environment. This journey started when I adopted my 9 year old daughter from foster care. I began to find a new purpose and took classes to learn about trauma. Those classes actually helped me work through my own trauma and I eventually became a therapist. This journey that started in 2008 turned into our first girls class in 2021. Here at First Page, we continue to grow and learn to improve each round of classes.
Why First Page?
First Page is dedicated to giving veterans and first-responders a sense of purpose after service and kids a positive role model through sharing their stories of life in creative expression and helping everyone involved gain resiliency skills. Once a class has completed their creative expression we work to partner with a local independent living facility or long term care center to bring together every generation.
